Abstract (EN)

This thesis comprehensively analyzes the technical, economic, and financial aspects of a solar power plant installed on the rooftop of an industrial facility in Konya province. The study highlights the potential of renewable energy sources in Turkey and provides significant insights into the economic feasibility of solar energy. Installation costs, amortization periods, and investment returns for 2023 and 2024 are compared, while the cost-effectiveness and economic sustainability of solar energy systems are evaluated under different scenarios. The research presents general information on solar power plants and examines the advantages, disadvantages, and installation processes of rooftop solar power systems in detail. Using the PVsyst simulation program, energy production estimates of east- and west-facing solar panels were made and compared with actual production data. The accuracy and reliability of the PVsyst program were assessed, revealing how closely simulation results align with real-world conditions. The installation process of the solar power plant is detailed, including site selection, material procurement, system design, and commissioning. Furthermore, various economic scenarios were analyzed, including cases where all the energy produced by the solar power plant is consumed within the facility and cases where part of it is sold to the grid. Under these scenarios, key economic factors such as payback periods, changes in electricity prices, and the impact of exchange rates were examined. The results of the study emphasize not only the environmental benefits but also the economic advantages of solar power plants. The relationships between energy production capacities, amortization periods, and investment costs are thoroughly analyzed, demonstrating how profitable and sustainable solar energy systems can be for investors. In conclusion, this thesis offers theoretical and practical knowledge about solar power plants, making it a valuable resource for investors, engineers, and policymakers. This study, which provides concrete recommendations and guidance for more efficient utilization of Turkey's solar energy potential, contributes significantly to the renewable energy sector.
