The relationship between city and nature in contemporary art practices

Environmental or ecological art is a movement that emerged in the USA in the 1960s on the basis of placement on large areas of land. With the emergence of cities, the world has faced many problems. Environmental or ecological art is a movement that intends to make the world realize of the dangers posed by industrial development and the speed of technology. In some countries, concretion that underlie the economy causes cities to be constantly built and demolished. Due to these structures, people drift apart from the nature and turn to concrete blocks instead of nature. Artists are making efforts to raise awareness against the constant change of the environment we live in by using concretion in line with the economic interests of the administrators. Nature is being destroyed as a result of the negative consequences of rapid unplanned urbanisation. The beauty of nature, the extinction of animal species, water resources, global warming are included on what negatively affects the environment. With industrial technological advances, the ability of people in industrial societies to control and exploit nature has also increased. These works also aim to express environmental problems.
