The study of theory and practice consistency in today's tafsir: The case of Mustafa Öztürk's İlahi Hitabin Tefsiri

In this thesis, method discussions, which are one of the most fundamental problems of the science of tafsir today, are discussed, and the theories proposed as a result of these discussions are mentioned, consistency between theory and practice is researched. While this research was being carried out, Mustafa Öztürk's work called "The Tafsir of Divine Speech", which provided us with the opportunity to analyze due to the intensity of his theoretical studies and the fact that he wrote a commentary, was taken as the basis. In addition, the principles that Mustafa Öztürk took into account in his interpretation of the Qur'an and the method he used in his commentary were tried to be revealed with a holistic point of view. The thesis consists of an introduction and 3 main parts. In the introduction to the thesis, the subject and scope of the research, its aims and objectives, literature review, methods and resources are mentioned. In the first part, today's tafsir movements and general characteristics, in the second part, Mustafa Öztürk's perspective on tafsir and tafsir method and in the third part, the work called "The Tafsir of the Divine Speech" was examined and the method suggestion was determined, and then its consistency in its reflection on the practice was investigated. In other words, as an example of today's tafsir, the method of tafsir that he proposed within the framework of the works of Mustafa Öztürk and the introduction of his tafsir was revealed; It has been investigated whether he complies with this method in his tafsir. In the thesis, it was concluded that various and variable interpretations were followed in Mustafa Öztürk's commentary due to the influence of many different works and authors, and the points that were consistent and not were determined. The eclectic feature of today's tafsirs, between the adherence to traditional methods and the tendency towards new methods, has been determined in the example of Mustafa Öztürk.
