Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effect of changing security perceptions on EuropeanUnion?s migration policy is examined. In this framework, migration policiesare studied for European Union and France, Germany and United Kingdom. Inthe introduction chapter, main objectives of this study and the method ofevaluation are discussed. The first chapter contains general concepts andtheories that were used in the study. In the second chapter the changingsecurity perceptions of nation-states in historical process is examined in thetheoretical framework and migration-security relation is discussed. The thirdchapter is about the migration movement to Europe after the Second WorldWar. The migration policies of European Union and France, Germany andUnited Kingdom are also examined in this chapter. In the forth chapter, theeffect of September 11 on migration policies of the European Union andFrance, Germany and United Kingdom are discussed. In the conclusionchapter the failure of the European Union for building up a common migrationand asylum policy and its various reasons are highlighted.
