Abstract (EN)
The concept of sustainability was included in life and started to shape it with the "Our Common Future" report published by the United Nations in 1983. The report, published to find solutions to the problems brought by rapid industrialization and population growth, is a warning about the negative consequences of economic development and globalization on the environment. The basis of this issue is the damage to ecology and the concept of sustainability as a solution as a result of this damage, and the concept of sustainability is now encountered in almost every field. In an increasingly complex world, it is increasingly important to develop students' ability to think differently, solve problems and make decisions. Environmental problems should be stopped with solutions such as environmental design practices. A good life is possible with educated youth working around these issues. For this reason, this research has been tried to be discussed in the 11th grade graphic design course of Fine Arts High Schools with the thought that it may be related to sustainable design. The focus is on the contribution of sustainable design to students and graphic design workshop courses. In this research, it has been tried to analyze the graphic design course, curriculum and textbook taught in fine arts high schools in terms of sustainability and sustainable design. With these studies, it is thought that students can contribute to the learning processes with sustainable design and that students who grasp the idea of sustainability will be aware of their individual responsibilities and become conscious in this way. With the thought that conscious individuals will create a conscious society, it has been tried to conduct a research that can contribute to making easily accessible, nature-friendly, interesting and curious designs to students, teachers and other users. As a result of the research; Sustainability and sustainable design are not prominently included in the course book and curriculum, but similarities such as recycling, waste and material use have been encountered in the course book as in sustainable design. In addition, it has been concluded that raising awareness of sustainability in line with the aim of raising conscious individuals, which is also included in the graphic design curriculum, has similarities. Finding similarities with sustainable design gives the result that it is possible to include sustainability in this textbook.
