Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was investigated whether there is a significant difference between emotional quotient levels of high school students and the students attending the department of music at the school of fine arts and sports. For this purpose, Bar-On Emotional Quotient Scale and Personal Information Form were utilized. The population of the present study consists of the senior students from all high schools at the Centrum of Amasya province and from all departments of music at the school of fine arts and sports throughout Turkey in 2012-2013 academic year. The sample comprise of 406 senior students, 213 male and 193 female, from Amasya Science High Scholl, Amasya Technical and İndustrial Vocational High Scholl, Amasya High School, Amasya Alptekin Anatolian High School, Amasya Anatolian High School, Amasya Anatolian Teacher High School, Amasya Religious Vocational High School, Amasya Atatürk High School, Amasya İMKB Anatolian Hotel Management and Tourism Vocational High School with Amasya Fine Arts and Sports High School, Malatya Fine Arts and Sports High School, Tokat Fine Arts and Sports High School, Niğde Fine Arts and Sports High School, Hatay Fine Arts and Sports High School, Erzincan Fine Arts and Sports High School, Diyarbakır Fine Arts and Sports High School. In order to determine emotional quotient level, data was collected through Bar-On Emotional Quotient Scale which was developed by Dr. Reuven Bar-On (1997) and translated in Turkish by Tekin ACAR (2001). Personal Information Form was prepared and used to obtain data about demographic information. Data was analyzed by using SPSS 11.5 packet program and significance tests such as One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Two-Way Analysis of Variance, Levene Statistics, Scheffe Test and T-test was utilized to determine whether the data was distributed homogenous or not. The results of the study revealed that: The emotional quotient levels of the senior high school students differentiated significantly in terms of school type, gender, and father?s education level. However, there is no significant difference in terms of the number of siblings, mother?s occupation, father?s occupation, mother?s education level, family?s monthly income, and the attitude of family.
