The evaluation and transliteration of the Crete province yearbook dated h.1310 (Ad.1892-1893)

Yearbook (Salname) in general context is said to be a collection of works organized to show annual events. This word entered our literature after the 19th century. After starting to see the benefits of this development that started with the regulation of state yearbooks, the yearbooks of provinces began to be regulated. After the regulation of the 1867 Provincial Regulations, the administrative structure of the Ottoman State was switched to a transition from provinces to cities. With this reform movement, the tradition of registering all the developments that took place in a year in the provinces spread quickly to almost all the provinces. The province yearbooks include so many important data and statictics such as, administrational shape of cities, the civil servants that work in the provinces, their geographical state, economic activities, historical structures, foundations, mosques, schools, libraries, hospitals, provincial budget, populational rate, agricultural situation and trade. These yearbooks are very essential archive documents that shed light to the researchers in terms of organisational history. We need to do more research on the yearbooks in our archives so that we can comprehend the structure of administrative organization of the Ottoman State. Due to this reason, the main issue of the Crete Province Yearbook scheme which is very important in terms of organizational history constitutes. The bibliography was searched for research works in order to be able to evaluate after the transcription of the Crete Province Yearbook for H.1310 which is the main source of our work. We have reviewed the yearbook data and have completed transcription in the light of social science research methods.
