The letters of Hz. Omar'in hadith sources

In this study, the letters of Hz. Omar in the hadith sources have been examined. Our thesis consists of two chapters. In the first chapter, the subject, limitations, significance, methodology, and sources of the research are discussed, followed by a brief introduction to some hadith terminology encountered during the evaluation of the letters in terms of sanad (chain of narration) and matn (text). In this chapter, an introduction to the life of Hz. Omar is also provided, including his lineage, ancestry, conversion to Islam, and period of caliphate. Then, his scholarly position is highlighted, and especially in relation to the content of the thesis, Hz. Omar's contributions to hadith and jurisprudence are summarized in separate sections. A special subsection is dedicated to his jurisprudence, where two famous letters expressing his views on usul (legal methodology) are analyzed. In the second chapter, Hz. Omar's letters are classified and analyzed according to their topics. The letters are titled based on their content, and each narration is compared in terms of sanad and matn. The authenticity of the narrations is evaluated, and based on the obtained data, the distribution of the letters is determined according to their sources, authenticity, narrators, topics, and recipients, and presented in tables. Furthermore, Hz. Omar's style of judgment is summarized in bullet points within the framework of the letters. In the conclusion chapter, the findings and situations encountered during the research are briefly summarized.
