The problem of understanding hadith in the context of maqasid- the example of Ibn Hibban

In this study, Ibn Hibbān's Sahih is analyzed as an example in terms of the understanding of hadiths based on maqāṣid. The history, intellectual foundations and basic topics of the understanding of maqāṣid al-shari'a are summarized, and the importance of the understanding of maqāṣid in understanding hadiths is emphasized. The representativeness of Ibn Hibbān's Sahih, which is taken as an example as a purpose-oriented classification study, is examined. The classification method of the author, the titles he used, and his explanations in addition to his purpose-oriented interpretations are analyzed. As a result, it has been concluded that this work is a good source in terms of method and content for revealing the minor sharī'ah purposes present in the hadiths and for the purpose-oriented understanding of hadith, although it is not exactly for the understanding of maqāṣid.
