Abstract (EN)

Communication is a fundamental process that enables the exchange of information, emotions and thoughts between people. This process is carried out through different methods such as verbal, nonverbal, written, visual and organizational communication. In this study, the communication methods of the Prophet Muhammad are discussed. Research has shown that Prophet Muhammad used intensive communication in a multi-faceted manner and effectively used verbal and non-verbal communication methods throughout his life. The purpose of this study is to examine the communication methods adopted by the Prophet Muhammad in his interpersonal relationships in the light of the hadiths and to exemplify the effective social relationships and solutions to communication problems. The assumption of the study is that the communication methods of the Prophet Muhammad are universal and can provide solutions to today's communication problems. The scope of the study consists of the examination of the communication style of the Prophet Muhammad and the effects of this communication style on society. In this context, in the first part of the thesis, the definition and conceptual framework of the concept of communication are drawn; the form of communication and the elements that constitute communication are discussed; and in the second part, the communicative characteristics of the Prophet Muhammad and the prominent issues in his interpersonal relationships are discussed. In the study, literature review, case study method and document analysis were used as qualitative research methods based on hadiths. In the data collection process of the study, firstly the basic hadith books that constitute Kutub-i Sitta (Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nasa'i and Ibn Majah) were reviewed in detail. As a result of this review, the hadiths that shed light on communication and interpersonal relationships were classified. The case study method was also used to examine the hadiths that focus on specific communication situations of the Prophet Muhammad and reflect different social contexts. Document analysis was used while using books, encyclopedias, articles, theses and internet sources. In this study, it was concluded that the communication approaches of the Prophet Muhammad had a multidimensional character that overlapped with modern communication theories. First of all, the Prophet Muhammad approach to communication seems to be a process based on mutual construction of meaning between the receiver and the sender, rather than a one-way transfer of information. While determining communication strategies, he displayed sensitivity in the context of social structure, cultural codes and social system dynamics. He also used feedback methods to increase the effectiveness of the communication process. In this context, it is seen that the communication principles of Prophet Muhammad are largely compatible with the interactional, context-sensitive and participatory communication principles emphasized in today's communication studies.
