Abstract (EN)
This study, titled 'The Spiritual Effects of Prayer, Repentance and Patience Against Trials and Tribulations in Hadiths' aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the subject. The primary goal of the research is to establish a supportive and motivating framework by identifying the Prophetic guidance from the Hadith literature regarding strategies for coping with difficulties (calamities and afflictions) that negatively affect an individual's spiritual integrity and threaten their psychological well-being. The study first establishes the conceptual boundaries by examining the etymological and terminological equivalents of the concepts 'Calamity (Bala)' and 'Affliction (Musibah)' under separate subheadings. Subsequently, these phenomena are addressed from the perspective of a 'Path to Purification,' focusing on the meaning and purpose of afflictions within Islamic thought. Finally, the definitions, functions, and place in the literature of the concepts of Supplication (Dua), Remembrance (Dhikr), Repentance (Tawbah), and Seeking Forgiveness (Istighfar) — resorted to in the face of afflictions — are detailed; the contributions of these spiritual practices to the individual's psychological well-being are demonstrated. Within the scope of the analyses, the meaning and importance of calamities and afflictions in the context of the concept of 'Trial' are evaluated in the light of Hadiths. Different types of trials and afflictions cited in the literature are exemplified, and these phenomena are subjected to a comprehensive assessment from the perspective of Hadith science. Through this holistic approach, the role and function of Prophetic guidance in moments of crisis management are clearly highlighted. The study further analyzes the impact of spirituality on individuals, specifically explaining the place of a positive emotional state in the Hadith literature. From the perspective of the Qur'an and Sunnah, it is suggested that in the face of difficulties and trials an individual may encounter throughout life, they should primarily demonstrate patience and fortitude, and subsequently adopt spiritual values such as dua, dhikr, and reliance on God (tawakkul). Spiritual resources such as supplication, remembrance, repentance, and seeking forgiveness support the individual's spirituality through a direct connection with God and significantly increase their capacity to cope with calamities and afflictions. In this context, religious beliefs both shape the individual's behavior and provide an important psychological support mechanism against challenging life events by fostering spiritual well-being. The Hadith literature clearly demonstrates the role of these spiritual values in enhancing an individual's resilience against afflictions.
