This study aims to examine the concept of "hafız" in its historical, religious, social and cultural contexts and to examine its current practices in detail. The Holy Quran has been memorized and preserved by the Companions since its revelation to the Prophet Muhammad and passed on to the next generations. The first part deals with the definition and importance of hafız and the historical development of memorization. After the Holy Quran was revealed chapter by chapter, Hz. The fact that Muhammad had the revelation scribes write it down and the companions continued the tradition of memorizing it during this period played an important role in the preservation of the Quran. The second part of the study examines "hafiz" education today and how it is carried out. The role of the "Presidency of Religious Affairs" in this field, the organization of Quran courses and the programs of hafız education are discussed in detail in this section.
