Abstract (EN)

Folklore includes society's traditions and customs, beliefs, language and expression features, literary products, plays; festivals, ceremonies and celebrations; clothing, dressing and adornment forms; folk medicine, botany, zoology, economy, music, law, cuisine, architecture. It is a scientific discipline that aims to compile and bring together the knowledge and cultural elements that the people have created over time by scientific means. Theatre plays are one of the written sources that contain elements of folklore. Haldun Taner's "Keşanlı Ali Destanı, Sersem Kocanın Kurnaz Karısı, Fazilet Eczanesi, Ayışığında Şamata and Zilli Zarife" were chosen as the main topic of the study because no study has been conducted to determine the folkloric elements in these theatre works. In this study, it was aimed to determine the usage patterns, frequency of use and purposes of use of folkloric elements which take place both in the author's five theater works and in the research universe. The five works named "Keşanlı Ali Destanı, Sersem Kocanın Kurnaz Karısı, Fazilet Eczanesi, Ayışığında Şamata and Zilli Zarife", in which folk scientific elements are used most intensively, were subjected to the text analysis method. This study is significant because of the evaluation and identification the folklore elements that continue to change from past to present in the author's theatre works, explaining the purposes and situations in which the author uses folkloric elements, and transferring the determined cultural elements to future generations.
