Özet (EN)
Narration is a human need. From figurative depictions on cave walls in primitive times to digital texts and images in modern life, they are all elements that fulfill this need. It continues with narrative genres, epics, tales, legends and folk tales. These narrative types have features that are similar and separated in form and subject context. While the traces of Eastern literature were seen in the first stories, the story in the Western sense began to be seen with the Tanzimat. The storytelling of Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil, who is better known for his novels, is as successful as his novelist. His first stories published in 1888 are important examples for the modern storyteller. He had an active writing life with small and big stories he wrote and published before Servet-i Fünun, Servet-i Fünun, Constitutional Monarchy and Republic periods. The roots of narrative science, which became a discipline in the 1960s, go back to Plato and Aristotle's concepts of mimesis and diegesis. Saussure tradition, Russian Formalism, Prague School, New Criticism gave ideas that formed the basis of the discipline in the process until the narrative became a discipline. Classical narrative science has an approach that advocates work-centered analysis. In our study, the theory of narratology was applied by reading the stories of Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil through a work-centered reading. Narrative analysis is limited to the concepts of time and space. Three typologies of Gérard Genette's narrative time and rhythm elements in the narrative have been identified. The views of Marie Laure Ryan and Seymour Chatman were taken into consideration while examining the space.
