Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to examine the views of the educators working in Public Education Centers on the methods and techniques used in adult-specific courses. In this study, mixed method research was used by presenting quantitative and qualitative methods in a way that supports each other in accordance with the purpose of the research. This research is in the exploratory sequential mixed method design, as qualitative data are obtained and then quantitative data is used in the research. According to this; Adult education methods and techniques recommended to educators in the general course type and vocational and technical course type education programs for adults on the official website of the General Directorate of Lifelong Learning affiliated with the Ministry of National Education were examined. For this, 615 curricula suitable for adults among the curricula approved in the last three years (2019, 2020, 2021) were analyzed using the document analysis design, one of the qualitative research designs. In the quantitative dimension of this study, the descriptive method is used, and the research is in a cross-sectional scanning design. A questionnaire, the data collection tool used in the quantitative dimension of the study, was created with the data obtained from the document review, which is the qualitative dimension of the research. The sample of the quantitative measurement of the study consists of 83 educators selected by simple random sampling method who worked as educators in the fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year in Public Education Centers located in a province of the Western Black Sea Region. In the qualitative aspect of the research, open-ended questions were applied to the participants in the continuation of the questionnaire. In the findings obtained from this research, it was seen that the methods and techniques suggested in the curriculum showed similarities and differences with the results obtained from the questionnaire regarding the tendency of the participants to use the methods and techniques. It was concluded that educators' views on adult education methods and techniques were primarily educators' views positive.
