Determination of the socio-economic structures of the breeders in the Ankara (mohair) goat sub-projects within of the small ruminant breeding national project in the hands of public

This study was carried out in order to determine the socio-demographic aspects of the breeders in Ankara Goat 5 subproject within the scope of the National Animal Breeding Project in the Hands of Public. The research material was formed by face-to-face interviews with 61 breeders in the project in 2022, according to the full count method. As a result of the study, it was reported that the supports provided for sheep and goats did not meet the expectations of 80.30% of the breeders, and 16.40% of them were close to meeting their expectations. All of the enterprises stated that they were satisfied with the improvement project support, the visits of the project technical staff, and the technical information and support they provided. However, they stated that the amount of support should be increased. After being involved in the improvement project, 93.40% of breeders reported that there had been a change in their livestock farming activities. Together with the project, it can be stated that it contributes to the improvement and development of the infrastructure, animal presence, earnings, mohair quality and breeding quality in the enterprise. It has been determined that 41.00% of the breeders will continue to raise Angora goats if there is no improvement project, and 59.00% will not. The project's achievements are very important both for the country and for growers. In light of these findings, it can be said that the project affects the re-increase in the existence of the Angora goat and its distance from extinction. In this context, the existence of the improvements project should be continued, the effectiveness and scope of the applied support policies should be increased, and the maintenance and feeding conditions should be improved.
