Abstract (EN)

The War of Independence was over and the form of administration became republic. After the regime was named, a rapid change process in the political, social and cultural area began. One of the keystones of these successive processes was the People's houses. This journey which started with an opening ceremony realized on the 19th February 1932 in 14 city centers simultaneously, took root in the remote corners of Anatolia in short time with the People's rooms which is founded later. One of the most important branches of People's houses which operate in the form of nine branches in total, is the Library and Publishing Branches. The People's houses libraries, which were formed by taking into consideration the social and cultural conditions of their location, both increased the level of education and culture of the society with their functions and helped the society to understand the purpose of the revolutions which came one after the other with the new regime that took its power from the nation. The aim of this study is to reveal the activities of the People's houses libraries from their establishment to their first closure and how they contributed to the educational and cultural level of the society in places where they are established and to help to create a general perspective on the subject. All kinds of material support was provided for the purpose of the study and an evaluation was tried to make.
