Investigation of the relationship between imaging use conditions and the sources of motivation of weightlifters

Various variables are possible in the field of sports that affect performance. One of them is imagination. Humans have an impressive ability to imagine things, events and actions that may or may not occur in real life. In addition to imagination, one of the main variables affecting the field of sports is motivation. Motivation can be defined as the act of taking action towards the goals that one wishes to achieve, the continuity of the movement, and the positive effect of movement and behavior. In this context, the aim of our thesis is to evaluate the relationship between the use of imagery and motivation sources of weightlifters and to examine these data in terms of some demographic variables. The study group consists of 347 weightlifting athletes. For data collection purposes, Sports Imagination Inventory and Sports Motivation Scale were used. Percentage and frequency distributions, Pearson Correlation Analysis, One-Way ANOVA and t-Test were used in the analysis of the data. According to the results of the research, it was determined that there was a significant difference in the Sports Motivation Scale sub-dimensions in the context of the variables of the participants' education status, nationality status, and the best grade they achieved, while there was no significant difference in the Sports Motivation Scale sub-dimensions in the context of the participants' gender and preferred technique variables. While it was determined that there was a significant difference in the sub-dimensions of the Sports Imagination Inventory in the context of the variables of the participants' gender, education status, nationality, and the best grade they achieved, it was determined that there was no significant difference regarding the Sports Imagination Inventory sub-dimensions in the context of the preferred technique variable of the participants. In addition, it was determined that there was a relationship between the age, sports age and weight variables of the participants and the scales. As a result, it can be said that there is a relationship between Sports Imagination Inventory and Sports Motivation Scale.
