Determination of factors for acceptance and use of telemedicine devices and systems with patient - nurse - doctor perspective

Telemedicine is a technology developed to enable people to benefit from health services where they live. The world history of telemedicine applications started in the 1950s in the USA. Telemedicine aims to improve clinical management and delivery of healthcare services worldwide by increasing access, quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The use of telemedicine services is expanding but there are still some problems. These problems include more work on equipment and training, telecommunication costs, inadequate infrastructure, lack of physician participation, profitability and liability concerns. This study aims to reveal the pre-adaptation perceptions towards the acceptance and use of telemedicine devices and systems from the perspective of Patient - Nurse - Doctor within the framework of Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). In this context, interviews were conducted to obtain information about what each stakeholder expects from telemedicine devices, the role of the devices in healthcare services, the design of the device and the content of the device information screens. For the data acquisition method designed as formal interviews, open-ended questions were created by taking expert opinions on the basis of the UTAUT model, and interviews were conducted with 26 patients, 20 nurses and 23 doctors. According to the results of the study, telemedicine devices are adopted by patients, doctors and nurses and efforts should be made to expand their use. Concerns about telemedicine devices are privacy, ethical and legal concerns, margin of error, radiation and adaptation. It is recommended that efforts should be made to facilitate the use and maintenance of the devices and to develop wearable devices such as smart watches. In addition, the importance of summary information on Web/mobile platforms was revealed in this study.
