Hospital performance and financial analyses

Health enterprises have different features than industrial businesses. Defining and measuring of the outputs are difficult in health enterprises and tasks are considerably complex. Specialization level is very high in the health institutions.Hospital enterprises provide healthcare service to the public. Health service covers all of the actions that aim to provide and maintain the well-being stage of a person both physically and mentally. Health service has a characteristic of not being postponed. Hospitals are non-profit organizations that provide every kind of continuous health care service, in addition to training, research and public health services.Usage of high technologic equipment is necessary to maintain quality and continuity of health services. In addition, it requires qualified personnel employment. Therefore, hospital enterprises work with high costs.Hospital performance and financial analyses can be done by measuring the high costs caused by continuous health care service production and effects of the incomes that are gained from provided heath care services on the financial structure of the hospitals. In this way, it is possible to have an idea about the general financial situation and financial decisions can be made based on performed analysis.In this study, financial and performance data of Acibadem Hospital has been investigated. Financial data of the Acibadem Hospital has been accessed via the Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE). Performance data has been obtained from the Performance Bulletin that published on the official website of the Acibadem Hospital. These results have been evaluated and presented comparatively as graphics and tables.
