Abstract (EN)

Aim and Introduction: In this study, in Sakarya University Education and Research Hospital, urinary catheter electronic monitoring system's urinary catheter's duration and effects of bacteriuria and urinary system infectious (USE) frequency's search was aimed. Materials and Methods: This study consists of two groups which is without urinary catheter electronic monitoring system group (CEMSW) and another is with urinary catheter electronic monitoring system group (CEMS). In CEMSW, urinary catheter and which patients included in the study, were followed as long as the catheter remains inserted. In CEMS, patients who are with catheter were followed with catheter system. In both of study, at clinics, the same methods and manners were supplied as bacteriuria and infection follow-up. In both of CEMSW and CEMS, from patients who are with catheter the duration of this process, the first, third and on the tenth day, with aseptic technique urine sample was taken. In both of study groups, duration of urinary catheter, bacteriuria and USE were researched with comparing. Results: In CEMSW 537, in CEMS 521 patients who are with urinary catheter were involved in this study. In CEMSW duration of urinary catheter was 1760 day 3,2 ± 3,0 (1-28); with in CEMS duration of urinary catheter was 1090 day 2,0 ± 1,6 (1-19) was found (p<0,001). The result of bacteriuria in CEMSW %8,5 with in CEMS %5,4 were supplied. In proportion of unnecessary catheter insertion rate was in CEMSW 42/495 (%8,4), while in CEMS 15/506 (%2,4) (p<0,001). Conclusion: Following application that is done with electronic catheter system, catheter duration and catheter-related bacteriuria decreases. Nowadays with regarding hospital automatisation systems are used generally in all hospitals, electronical following system doesn't occur big accounting difference. With using this system that is recommended in our countries all different hospitals we think catheter-related bacteriuria and bacteriuria process developed cateter infectious will be able to.
