The field of organizational commitment of social workers working in hospitals research: Marmara Region case

Although medical social work continues as one of the main working areas of social work today; Social workers working in the field of health, which is a multi-disciplinary service field, are still seen as secondary professional staff. In particular, the confusion about the job description of the social workers working in hospitals affects the motivation of the social worker and this is reflected in the service provision in a negative way. However, today's working life covers the majority of people's lives and the problems of working life directly affect both the family and social life of the person. The individual trying to cope with the economic difficulties is in an effort to find peace in his / her working environment. At this point, the concept of organizational commitment becomes very important. In this study, it was aimed to examine the social workers working in the field of medical social services and their loyalty to the hospitals they work in. This study is the first study on the measurement of the organizational commitment of social workers in the field of medical social work in the literature and it is a guide that social workers can get an idea about the field before they go to this area. The study was carried out with social workers working in state / education and research hospitals serving in Istanbul, Bursa, Sakarya and Kocaeli provinces, which are among the major metropolitan cities in the Marmara Region. In this study, the questionnaire method was used for 121 quantitative methods and the collected data were analyzed with SPSS program. The first part of the survey consists of demographic information while the second part of the questionnaire includes the ise Organizational Commitment Scale ılar developed by Allen and Mayer, whose validity and reliability have been tested by both domestic and foreign researchers. In the analyzes conducted within the scope of the research, it was seen that there was a significant relationship between the social workers' organizational units and their organizational commitment.
