Evaluation of poems by Hatay Dörtyollu Minds Emi̇n Can and Mustafa Cengi̇z in the context of functional theory

The roots of the minstrelsy tradition date back to Central Asia, which was the first settlement of the bards known by the names of kam, shaman and baksı in the ancient Turkish communities, who helped carry the oral culture products they sang accompanied by kopuz to the present day. Although the tradition has been developing and changing for centuries, it is in danger of extinction today. In the tradition that evolved from bards to minstrels, the role of minstrels is to enable the transfer of traditions and customs to the pain, joy, troubles, sorrows, disruptions within the society, and to be the voice of individuals and societies. The minstrelsy tradition has its own rules. Hatay province organizes poetry festivals and commemoration nights on provincial and district basis in order to prevent the extinction of the tradition of minstrelsy and to ensure the continuity of the tradition. As the spokespeople of the society, asiks shed light on the period in which they lived, and covered all kinds of issues in the lives of the local people, and while doing so, they also fulfilled the function of transmitting culture. Aşık Mustafa Cengiz and Aşık Emin Can, who are 21st century lovers and live in Ocaklı Village of Hatay's Dörtyol district, have conveyed the socio-cultural characteristics of the region to new generations by covering all kinds of issues related to the local culture from past to present in their poems. Our lovers, nourished by tradition, have adapted to changing technological developments and used communication tools such as Facebook and YouTube. Within literary research, lovers' poems have been examined in detail in terms of form, genre and content, but they have not been examined sufficiently in the context of functional theory. For this reason, the poems of the lovers in this study were intended to be examined comparatively in terms of their suitability to Bascom's Five Functions of Folklore. The information obtained in this research is a scientific study in the light of written and oral sources.
