Al-Khatib al-Baghdadi’s views on the methodology of fiqh in line with his work entitled “al-Faqih wal-mutafakkih”

In this study, the views of al-Khatib al- Baghdadi, a scholar who came to the forefront with his muhaddith identity, on the methodology of fiqh are discussed. Since he was a scholar belorging to the Shafi’i sect, it was tried to determine whether al-Baghdadi maintained Imam Shafi’i’s understanding of usûl al-fiqh. Baghdadi’s views on the usûl al-fiqh are presented by occasionally comparing them with some scholars. Al-Baghdadi’s thought on usûl is analysed in the context of his work al-Faqih wa’l-Mutafaqqih.
