Abstract (EN)
That Mahmud Celaleddin became a millstone and in evaluating other Islamic calligraphic handwritings , his works may be considered a touchstone is a fact accepted by all other artists. Mahmud Celaleddin was born in Daghestan, nevertheless, was entitled as master, by educating himself in Istanbul. The craftsmen he requested lore but repulsed him in his era and former masters impressing him, beside to all, his apprentices being trained in his school and artistic manner of his coeval Mustafa Rakım Efendi through comparison were discussed in detail. Visuals of unique works are placed in appendix out of necessity of the topic the study.In our study, boks and essaye oncaligraphic writing, works preserved in dergahs and tekkes in Istanbul, private collections, museums abroad constitutes major sources retraced.As a consequence of our study, it has been found out that birth date of Mahmud Celaleddin is uncertain, whereas, deceased in 1245 A.H. ve rests in Tekke of Sheik Murat in Eyup, mostly valued writing in the styles ?Sulus and Nesih? and reflected his personal characreristics insistently.
