Abstract (EN)

Aircraft maintenance operations constitute one of the most important parts of airway transportation, which is the most significant transportation method at the present time. The main requirement that the flight operations can be sustained in a secure way is to realize the maintenance operations safely and effectively. Besides, maintenance operations affect organizations as well as producers and countries directly on the issues of cost and reputation. Despite knowing the importance of aircraft maintenance, unfortunately present technology used in the field of maintenance and also the existing structure of the aircraft maintenance documentation, which is the main ground of maintenance operations, remain insufficient. Moreover this insufficiency leads to an unfavorable situation for maintenance field and aircraft operations. In this study a new approach has been brought to the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) which is a document of aircraft maintenance with considering the deficiencies and the technological improvements. To evaluate the existing documents and the introduced approach, 4 groups of Focus Group Interviews have been carried out with a total of 74 people who are students, technical staff and technical instructors of Anadolu University Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Participants, at high percentages, considered existing documents as insecure, inappropriate for maintenance operations and insufficient in terms of human factors. On the other side, they considered the approach introduced by the study as safety, appropriate for maintenance operations and favorable in terms of human factors, again at high percentages.
