Monitoring of air quality by use of passive samplers

Also, by comparing the obtained results from the passive samplers with theresults of a different type of passive samplers, performance evaluations were carried out.According to these evaluations, satisfactory results especially for precision and accuracywere obtained for both types of two passive samplers.In this study, the developed passive samplers were used for the monitoring ofspatial and temporal concentrations of pollutants in Eskişehir. NO2 measurementsbetween January 2004-June 2005, ozone measurements between November 2004-June2005 were carried out at six different sampling points in Eskişehir. Seasonal average NO2g/m3 and 23,46±7,02 g/m3 in winter and summer,concentrations were 33,43±5,61respectively, and ozone concentrations were 28,71±11,35 g/m3 and 39,58±1,3 g/m3 forthe same two seasons, respectively. When the results were evaluated, long term NO2standard value of 100 g/m3 for Turkey was exceeded at only one sampling period duringthe study and hourly ozone standard limit value of 240 g/m3 was not exceeded duringthe study according to the hourly data obtained from automatic ozone analyser.Keywords: Air Pollution, Monitoring, Nitrogen Dioxide, Ozone, Passive Samplersii
