The resolution of conflicts in air traffic en route control sector by knowledge based decision support tool

The subject of this thesis is a knowledge based decision support tool that was designed for the resolution of dual conflicts detected in air traffic en route control sector. The resolution method of the tool is based on expert air traffic controller knowledge that was obtained from literature research. The representation of this knowledge was firstly made in the form of decision tree, then transformed into Visual Basic programming language and programmed. The tool produces its resolutions by using 10 types of factors affecting controller conflict resolution and 8 types of separation strategies according to several rules form the controller knowledge. The knowledge based tool developed in this study is expected to be fully functional after being integrated into a model based conflict detection and resolution system. Because of unavailability of such a system that can make the tool fully functional, simulation evaluations couldn?t be done but expected benefits of the tool was presented.
