Abstract (EN)
Swimming is a popular recreational activity. Pools that are heavily used by the public need to be hygienically safe areas. The pool hygiene is provided with disinfection process. Chlorine is the most used chemical in the disinfection of pools. Chlorine can form chloramines (combined chlorine) and chlorinated organic disinfection by-products (DBPs) by entering into a continuous reaction with precursor compounds in the water, either come from natural or anthropogenic sources. Changes in the usage and operating conditions of each pool and the cultural habits of the bathers cause the change in the amount and types of DBPs in that pool. Studies in the literature concerning the concentration of DBPs other than THMs in pool water are limited. In this study THMs, HAAs and HANs level were monitored and the effects on public health were evaluated in the İsmail Eren Sports Complex swimming pool in Bitlis Province.
