Abstract (EN)
Japan is a country that is not influenced by the outside due to its geographical location. In this country which is firmly attached to its values, manga culture emerged under the influence of Edo period illustration artists, while paper shortages were drawn for manga prints at first, after World War II, this culture spread and played a major role in the birth of the monument. Japanese culture is rich in religion and beliefs. There are millions of Japanese gods, countless Yokai, Yurei and Kami, various folk legends. Japanese manga and anime are also influenced by this culture. Japanese manga and anime artist Hayao Miyazaki presents these effects from his own fantastic window in his works. He blend the magic with tradition. In his films, you can jump from roof to roof, fly with a witch's broom, travel in magical worlds that people can't see, find yourself in a castle hanging in the sky, and walk around with a moving Castle. War and destruction are in every film, but they are just the background of the film. You believe that a mermaid can be human, Totoros and other lands, and a Cat Bus can take you wherever you want. You know that if you disrespect nature and gods, you will be punished. If we approach the director from the perspective of a behaviourist, we should consider his environment, both his genetic heritage, his culture and the potential that exists in him. In this thesis, it is revealed what was inspired by Hayao Miyazaki's fantastic characters and how these characters emerged. Keywords: Hayao Miyazaki, Character Design, Manga
