Hâzâ Menâsik-i Hac-ı Sinân Efendi (Analysis-text-dictionary-facsimile)

There are many factors that shape the culture of societies and the lifestyles of nations. Religion stands foremost among these factors. Religions have significantly influenced the languages and literatures of the societies they affect. The principles of Islam, the decrees set forth in the Quran, and the role model of Prophet Muhammad have had a profound impact in many regions. Muslims have traveled to sacred lands from various geographical locations to fulfill the Hajj pilgrimage, one of the five fundamental principles of Islam. In Islamic societies, numerous works have been written to facilitate the easier and healthier performance of the Hajj pilgrimage. These works can be categorized under the titles of 'manasik-i hajj' (rituals of hajj) and 'menazil-i hajj' (stations of hajj). In this study, the work titled "Hâzâ Menâsik-i Hac-ı Sinân Efendi," copied in the 18th century in a cursive script, consisting of 72 folios, authored by Sinâneddîn Yûsuf b. Abdullâh Amâsî, has been examined. The work is a work of menâsik-i hajj types that aims to change the procedures and principles regarding the order and manner of worship related to hajj. In addition, since some destinations and places where water is located are briefly described during the journeys at the end of the work, the work also serves as an example of the menâzil-i pilgrimage genre. It is thought that this study will contribute to the literature by determining the linguistic features of a work written in the Anatolian region in the 16th century and copied in the 18th century.
