Abstract (EN)
This study provides a comprehensive analysis of compliance with environmental and occupational safety regulations in ready-mixed concrete plants. Initially, a general framework was established by examining the regulatory context in Turkey as well as sector-specific reports. A mixed-method research method was then employed, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Quantitative data were collected through surveys, where the level of compliance with environmental and occupational safety regulations was statistically evaluated, taking into account various plant scales, employee experience levels, and organizational structures. Qualitative data were obtained via semi-structured interviews and document review, offering in-depth insights into the challenges encountered in practice, best practices, and participant perspectives. The findings reveal a higher level of regulatory compliance in large-scale and more institutionalized plants, whereas smaller facilities face cost and technical constraints. In addition, it was determined that the frequency of training and inspections significantly affects accident rates, that investment in technological infrastructure increases environmental performance, and that regulatory compliance contributes positively to business performance in the long term. The results confirm that regulatory compliance is not only a legal obligation but also a strategic competitive element in the sector, and they offer suggestions for developing inspection mechanisms, increasing institutional capacity, and establishing an integrated management approach with continuous training programs.
