Determination of the efficiency of enterprises producing ready-mixed concrete by data enveloping method (Kırşehir, Nevşehir, Kırıkkale provinces example)

In this study, the efficiency levels of 18 facilities producing ready-mixed concrete in Kirsehir, Kırıkkale and Nevsehir provinces were calculated using the data envelopment analysis (DEA) method. The purpose of data envelopment analysis, which is used to calculate the efficiency levels of the same type of decision-making units by using more than one input and output, is to find the input-output combination that produces the most output with the least input. Data envelopment analysis, which is a non-parametric method, is a widely used method in determining relative efficiency. It has been determined how much improvement in the input-output values of the inactive facilities in order to become effective compared to the active facilities. The study was researched by considering the annual data of 2019. When the geographical features, socio-economic structure, development levels, population and demographics and socio-economic structure are taken into account, the similar provinces of Kirsehir, Kırıkkale and Nevsehir are clustered. As input values; electricity consumption, number of employees and ready-mixed concrete production capacity as output values; ready mixed concrete production amount, ready mixed concrete sales value and 1 ton sales value were analyzed. Input and output oriented Charnes, Cooper, Rhodes (CCR) and Banker, Charnes, Cooper (BCC) models were used to calculate the efficiency level. As a result of the analysis, 11 facilities were not found to be effective according to the Charnes, Cooper, Rhodes (CCR) model, while 9 facilities were not effective according to the Banker, Charnes, Cooper (BCC) model. While the two facilities with the highest efficiency were facilities C1 and C6, the two facilities with the lowest efficiency were facilities A4 and B3.
