ABSTRACTMSc. ThesisTHE INVESTIGATION OF REACTIONS OFHEXACHLOROCYCLOTRIPHOSPHAZENE WITH PYRIDINE DERIVATESSümeyya AlataşInönü ÜniversityGraduate of Natural and AppliedDepartment of Chemistry66 + xiv Pages2005Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saliha BEGEÇIn this study, the reactions of some pyridine derivates (II-VIII) withhexachlorocyclotriphosphazene (I) were investigated.Cl ClPN NCl ClP PClNClICH3NSHNN N NH2N OHOHII III IV VviOHNSHN NH3C NH2 CH3VI VII VIIIThe purpose of this study was to determine reaction parameters of the pyridinederivates with (I) and to determine the optimal conditions and elucidate the structuresof the compounds.Since the compounds used in experiments are air and moisture sensitive, experimentalstudies were done under dry argon atmosphere.By the reaction of (I) with (II), the compound (1) was synthesized. Then, whenconditions of reaction were changed, compound (2) was formed.Cl ClPCl ClNN NP Cl ON P PN N O NNClCl OP PClNCl1 2Compound (3) was synthesized from the reaction of (I) and (III) .Cl ClPNN NCl SP P NClNCl3Compound (4) was formed from the reaction of (I) and (IV) .Cl ClCH3PNNClONPPClCl N4viiCompound (5) was obtained from the reaction of (I) and (V).Cl ClPNNNHClNPPCl ClN5Compound (6) was obtained from the reaction of (I) and (VI).Cl ClPNN NH N CH3ClPPCl NHNN CH36As a result, it was observed that compound (I) didn`t give any substitutionproduct with (VII) and (VIII).The structures of the compounds were defined by elementel analysis,FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and 31P NMR spectroscopy.KEYWORDS: Hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene, pyridine, pyrimidine, quinoline, viii
