Abstract (EN)
One of the most fundamental rights of human beings is the right to live a life in accordance with the requirements of their faith. Muslims have also created a halal certification system in order to meet their halal nutrition needs more reliably, especially with the increasing complexity of modern life. The set of rules that halal certificates are based on are halal standards. Halal standards are created by technical committees with people from different fields of expertise. In this study, among the prominent halal food standards in the world; The General Requirements for Halal Food (OIC / SMIIC 1: 2019) standard prepared within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and referenced by the Turkish Standards Institute in halal certification (under the name TS OIC / SMIIC 1: 2019), Halal Food - General Requirements (MS 1500: 2019) and the Malaysian Protocol for Halal Meat and Poultry Production, Singapore's officially published General Guidelines for the Development, Implementation and Management of the Halal System (MUIS-HC-S002) and General Rules for the Processing and Handling of Halal Foods (MUIS-HC-S001), and the Halal Food - Part 1: General Requirements (GSO 2055-1:2015) and Animal Slaughter Requirements according to Islamic Rules (GSO 993:2015) published by the Organization for Standardization of the Cooperation Council for the Cooperation of the Gulf Arab States will be evaluated within the framework of Islamic law. Generally, Halal food standards and Islamic jurisprudence have been presented together in an effort to clarify the relationship between them. The rules set forth by Halal food standards on fundamental issues such as halal and haram animals, stunning methods, and animal slaughter are addressed within the scope of the views of the Hanafi, Shafi'i, Maliki, and Hanbali schools of thought on these issues. As a result of this approach, both the similarities and differences between the standards, as well as the fiqh-related implications of the requirements set forth in the standards, are revealed.
