Abstract (EN)

Halal tourism, rapidly growing as a strategic niche market in the global tourism industry, is paving the way for both Muslim and non-Muslim countries to reshape their infrastructure investments and service standards according to Islamic criteria due to its economic potential. This study, prepared based on the rise of this sector, encompassing a wide range from accommodation to financial processes, at both academic and industry levels, aims to determine the level of knowledge and preference dimensions of the academic staff and students of İnönü University Faculty of Theology regarding halal tourism and halal-concept hotels. The data obtained from the research reveals that the participants' general knowledge level about halal tourism and related businesses is low; however, it also shows that dimensions such as "Islamic infrastructure" and "halal/Islamic environmental characteristics" in halal-concept hotel preferences show significant differences depending on demographic variables. The study contributes to the literature by raising awareness levels within the academic community and provides critical data to industry stakeholders in managing consumer expectations.
