The evaluation of the connection in-between life quality, patient properties and nursing care satisfaction among hemodialysis patients

In this research it is aimed to determine the life quality of hemodialysis patients, the satisfaction obtained from nursing services and how this satisfaction related to life quality of these patients.This research was performed between 6 November ? 15 December 2006 on 152 hemodialysis patients who were chosen from the sample set obtained from the patients treated in Uşak and Afyon regions by simple-random sampling method and accepted to participate in the study. In questionnarie application; Patient Informative and Approval Form, Sociodemographic Properties, Sf-36 and SERVQUAL scale were used. By comparing results of Sf-36 and SERVQUAL scale with sociodemographic characteristics; and Sf-36 with SERVQUAL scale it is observed how satisfaction obtained from nursing services affected the life quality. In statistical analysis of data Pearson Correlation, One-Way ANOVA and Independent Samples Tests were used.At the end of the study, it was found that the life quality of the patients were low and the patients didn?t have confidence about the services; that is to say the patients were unsatisfied. It was seen that patient satisfaction about nursing services was not related to the life quality.We suggest that, to increase the satisfaction of patients about nursing services, continuing education of hemodialysis patients and informing the patients about hemodialysis procedure is necessary. Besides, it would be useful to determine the factors affecting the life quality and taking precautions about them.
