Abstract (EN)

This research was planned as a descriptive and cross-sectional study in order to examine nurses' observations on infection control and prevention. The research was carried out with 507 nurses working at Ankara Training and Research Hospital and voluntarily participating in the research. Ethics committee approval and institutional permissions were obtained, required for the study. Research data were collected using the descriptive characteristics form and the Nurses' Observations for Infection Control and Prevention Scale. When analyzing the data, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Mann Whitney U Test, Kruskal Wallis Test and Spearman correlation analysis were conducted. The mean age of the nurses was 30.58±7.92 and the mean total length of service (months) in nursing was 100.95±103.97, and 81.9% were female and 44.4% were married. It was determined that 64.9% of the nurses had a bachelor's degree, 42.4% worked as clinical nurses and 95.5% received training on infection control. The mean score of the Nurses' Observations for Infection Control and Prevention Scale was 29.36±8.90. When the descriptive and infection control characteristics of the nurses participating in the study were examined; Single, working in the operating room, working in the day shift, stating that the number of nurses is sufficient, satisfied with the care they apply, receiving infection control training from in-service training and from congress, finding the infection control training sufficient, stating that he does not need infection control training, believing that infection can be controlled with education The scale scores of the partially believing nurses were found to be low and statistically significant (p<0,05). As a result of the research, it is recommended to plan competent in-service training programs for the control and prevention of infection for nurses, to ensure that they are up-to-date and to control the outputs of the trainings given.
