Abstract (EN)

The research was conducted as a cross-sectional and correlational study to examine the relationship between nurses' perceptions of spiritual support and individualized care. The study population consisted of 1350 nurses working in four hospitals in central Trabzon between 30.01.2014 and 27.02.2024. The sample of the study comprised 300 nurses actively working in the internal medicine and surgical wards of the four hospitals, selected using the 'Stratified Random Sampling' method. Data were collected using the "Personal Information Form," "Spiritual Support Perception," and "Individualized Care Scale-A-Nurse Version" scales. The data obtained in the study were evaluated using the IBM SPSS 22.0 statistical program. Data were analyzed using frequency and percentage analyses, mean and standard deviation statistics, Pearson correlation, and linear regression analyses. Independent groups t-test, ANOVA, and post hoc (Tukey, LSD) analyses were performed. The nurses' "Spiritual Support Perception" total mean score was found to be 49.78±7.24, the "ICS-A-Nurse" total mean score was at 4.22±0.53, the "Clinical Situation" subdimension mean score was at 4.33±0.55, the "Personal Life Situation" subdimension mean score was at 3.99±0.69, and the "Decision-Making Control" subdimension mean score was at 4.24±0.59. A positive and weak correlation was found between the nurses' Spiritual Support Perception total mean score and the ICS-A-Nurse total, Clinical Situation, Personal Life Situation, and Decision-Making Control mean scores (p=0.000<0.05). In conclusion, it was found that nurses' perceptions of spiritual support and individualized care were at high levels, with a positive and weak correlation between them. In this context, the study findings are expected to contribute to the field of nursing, assist healthcare providers and presenters in improving patient care and outcomes, generate ideas for future studies in our country, and serve as a resource.
