Abstract (EN)

This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in order to determine the relationship between nurses compassion fatigue, psychological resilience, job satisfaction and intention to leave of job. The sample of the study consisted of 246 nurses working in Nevşehir State Hospital and meeting the inclusion criteria. Research data were collected using Sociodemographic Descriptive Information, Compassion Fatigue-Brief Scale, Brief Psychological Resilience Scale, Nurse Job Satisfaction Scale and Intention to Leave Scale. Independent Samples T-test, Kruskal-Wallis-H test, Pearson correlation and linear regression analyses were used in the evaluation of research data. A negative significant relationship was found between compassion fatigue and psychological resilience, job satisfaction and its sub-dimensions, and a positive significant relationship was found between turnover intentions. A positive significant relationship was found between psychological resilience and job satisfaction and its sub-dimensions, and a negative significant relationship was found between turnover intentions. A negative significant relationship was found between job satisfaction and its sub-dimensions and intentions to leave. In addition, it was concluded that compassion fatigue, psychological resilience and job satisfaction significantly and negatively predicted intentions to leave and explained 51.9% of the variance. Based on these results; increasing the psychological resilience and job satisfaction of nurses and reducing compassion fatigue will contribute to reducing intentions to leave. In this context, it is thought that programs should be developed to increase the psychological resilience and job satisfaction of nurses and reduce compassion fatigue.
