Abstract (EN)
Objective: This study was designed to determine the effectiveness of the web-based pediatric pain management education program in nursing students. Method: Pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design was used. The study was carried out with 39 students in the control group and 45 students in the intervention group, received Pediatric Nursing Intern Education in Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Nursing. The control group undergone routine intern training and the intervention group was administered a four-moduled web-based education. Data were collected by Sociodemographic Form, Pediatric Pain Management Knowledge Questionnaire and Satisfaction Questionnaire. The data evaluated by pared samples t test, Student's t test, Spearman's correlation, covariance, power analysis, effect size and regression analysis. Multiple correlations were evaluated with VIF (Variance Inflation Factor), Tolerance and Condition Index. Structural Equation Model (SEM) was used to test the model showing the relationship between the sub-dimensions. Results: The knowledge levels of the intervention group were significantly higher than control group in terms of general scores and "awareness", "physiopathology", "control" sub-dimension scores (p<0.05). A moderate, positive and advanced significant relationship was found between the web-based education and the knowledge score. Web-based education explained 56.6% of change in the knowledge level and increased it by 11.062 points. There was a strong positive relationship between the web-based education and "control" scores in SEM, established in accordance with the literature. Conclusion: The web-based pediatric pain management education was effective in increasing students' knowledge scores. Key Words: Pediatric nursing; students; education; pain management
