Abstract (EN)

The art of sculpture, one of the earliest of art branches, has brought the subject of the human body to itself from the past to the present. The struggle to make sense of the world where human beings lived and their vital inquiries have caused the human being to make a statue by triggering the sense of shaping in relation to nature. The person who thinks his body as the first place has defined the powers of the nature with the attributes belonging to his own body and expressed it in the forms he has made. The human body and the interpretation forms of the human body, which are indispensable for the art of sculpture that existed from the first periods of history to the present day, are handled through the historical line in this thesis. In the first part, the definition of sculpture art and the interpretation of the human body in figurative sculpture art before the modernization are examined. In the second part, the human body interpretation in the modernist process and the modern figurative sculpture art is covered with examples of artist works in the frame of art movements. İn the third part, contemparay art has been studied, and the liner expression in the figurative sculptures of foreing artists has been studied. In the four chapter, the same theme as handled through the works of Turkish artist. Finally, studies were examined when the last division was reached. From past to today, figurative sculpture has undergone transformations under the influence of social, political and scientific developments, leaving behind the changing, traditionally understanding of new techniques and materials as they begin to be used. This work, which is written in this axis, has been examined with examples of human body in the art of daily sculpture and examples of the works of art in the contemporary period.
