Abstract (EN)
Urban history studies have an important place in the historical researches of the Ottoman Empire. The basis of this study was the Ruse Court Registry No. R37, dated 1166–1167 in the Hijri Calendar and 1752–1754 in the Gregorian Calendar. When the records in the book are examined, information about the political, administrative, military, cultural, social, and economic structure of the city of Ruse in the middle of the XVIIIth century comes to light. The book also contains information about the city center of Ruse, its villages, sub-districts, and the daily lives of the people living here, occupational groups, inheritance cases in individual and family law, and judicial matters. Thanks to the orders, edicts, warrants, decrees, and similar documents from the center in the book, we can see examples of correspondence between the center and the provinces, the language used, and various writing styles. In addition, we see the military preparations of the period, the emergence of issues such as where and how the needs of grain and workers will be met, the measures taken, and how these issues resulted.
