Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the importance of energy in human life, electrical energy and electrical energy and the contribution of hydroelectric production is investigated. The aim of the thesis is to determine the hydroelectric potential in dependence on electricity generation and it shows that power plants' superiority. Permanent increase in electricity consumption per capita has led to the need for more energy. The high rates of negative impact of fossil fuels on the environment has led countries to the alternative energy sources. Among the alternative energy sources, hydroelectric power plants conrtibute to countries' electricity production most. In the study, hydroelectric potential of Turkey, the effect of rivers on hydroelectric potential, the contribution of the Coruh basin and Deriner hydropower plant in Turkey to the production of electricty, and the need for small hydroelectric power plants to be installed on the rivers in electricity generation has been mentioned. In addition, the positive and negative effects of hydroelectric power plants against the environment has been put forward.
