Abstract (EN)

Water, which is one of the most basic needs of man, has always been a subject of curiosity throughout history. Although three quarters of the world is covered with water, only three percent is fresh water. With the increasing population, industrialization, climate changes and global warming, the demand for water has increased even more, and the researches of people about whether this demand can be met or not has gained importance. The limited water resources we have will also confront us with water shortages in the future. For this reason, efficient use of water resources is very important for everyone. Hydrological modeling programs, which are widely used for the planning and management of water resources, provide various information about the flow that can occur for the precipitation that will fall in the basin we work. These data are used in the planning and management of storage facilities such as dams and in hydrological studies such as flood modeling. HEC-HMS (Hydrologic Engineering Center Hydrologic Modeling System) program, which is one of the hydrological modeling programs, was used in this study. In the "Kurukavak" basin, two different models were made using the "Initial and Constant Loss Method" and "Soil Moisture Accounting". The effect of taking into account soil moisture in hydrological modeling on model performance and the effect of soil moisture on flow were examined.
