Abstract (EN)
Throughout history, Turks have become one of the societies known for their independence ideals, values and lifestyle. It is possible to find traces of Turks almost everywhere in the world, not only in the political and military fields, but also in literature, art, architecture and aesthetics. One of the regions where Turks left an indelible mark on the history scene is the Indian continent. Although Turks' contact with the Indian continent dates back much further, a permanent Turkish-Islamic presence in the region began to emerge in the 10th century during the Ghaznavid dynasty (1001-1187). The expeditions to northern India during the reign of Sultan Mahmud spread Islam to central India. Sultan Mahmud conquered dozens of Indian cities during his campaigns. Sultan Mahmud spent the spoils obtained from these campaigns for the construction of cities and the welfare of the people. Sultan Mahmud, who had fountains, masjids and madrasas built in various places he conquered, carried out various activities to spread Islam and establish it in the lands where it spread. Throughout the historical process, various interactions have occurred between Hindus and Turks in religious, political, social and cultural fields. Objectively examining and clarifying these relations based on Indian sources will contribute to evaluating the relationship between Hinduism and Turkish-Islam from a healthier perspective and to detecting and unearthing the Turkish-Islamic traces in the region. The study also consists of four chapters. In the first part of the study, under the title of general information about India, the geographical location of India, the communal definition of the Indian community and all societies living in India, the pre-Islamic religious beliefs of India and the term Hindu and its relationship with Indian religions, the history of the pre-Islamic Turks in India.
