Abstract (EN)

Low concentration of reactive oxygen species (ROS) can be useful in immune deffence against infections or treatment of cancer cells. As a result of exposure to external factors such as aging, inflammation and radiation, oxidative balance is disrupted, which results in increased ROS levels. This may cause oxidative damage in DNA, proteins, nucleic acids and membrane lipids. Concequently, some pathological conditions including cancer, atherosclerosis, ischemia in the heart etc. may arise. In this thesis, the design and synthesis of a new water soluble chemiluminogenic probe was carried out. Structural characterization and photophysical properties including, absorption, fluorescence and chemiluminescence, were elucidated using spectroscopic methods (1H NMR, 13C NMR, LCMS, absorption, emission and chemiluminescence spectra). It was shown that compound 1 was highly selective and sensitive to hypochlorite ion among many other species since it contains dihydrophthalazinedione unit. Furthermore, it can give dual-channel (fluorogenic and chemilumiogenic) response to hypochlorite, which render 1 highly versatile compared to precedent analogues .
