Abstract (EN)
Values are among the most important factors shaping the lives of societies. Because we determine what is right and wrong, what is more important and prioritized, through the values we hold. A person's values shape their personality, and a person's personality shapes the future of society. Therefore, the concept of value governs a society's culture, education, economy, and even law. Therefore, building a good society is possible through raising individuals who have a strong understanding of these values. A haphazard approach should be avoided in instilling values, which serve as the compass of society. Therefore, systematically teaching values in the school environment is crucial. Values are often taught through texts found in Turkish textbooks. Therefore, meticulous selection of the texts in Turkish textbooks is essential. For this reason, the 2024 Turkish Language Curriculum has increased the number to twenty by making additions to the root value in the 2019 Turkish Language Curriculum for the purpose of registering generations that are suitable for the requirements of the age. The aim of this change is to ensure holistic development. Therefore, to raise generations that meet the demands of the current era, the 2024 Turkish Curriculum has added to the ten core values in the 2019 Turkish Curriculum, bringing the number to twenty. This change aims to ensure holistic student development. The purpose of this study is to examine the poems published in the Hisar magazine, a magazine with a deep-rooted history, in the context of their values and the theme of children. This study aims to determine the extent to which the 20 core values and the theme of children, intended to be imparted to students with the revised curriculum, are included in Hisar's poetry and to determine their suitability for use as teaching materials in Turkish textbooks. The main sources of the study are the 50 issues of Hisar magazine and the 2024 Turkish Curriculum. Data were collected and analyzed using the qualitative research design of document analysis. The research revealed a total of 827 instances of value transfer in 345 poems, and 33 contained the theme of children. The most frequently mentioned value in the poems is love, while the least frequently mentioned value is savings. Our study concludes that the poems in Hisar magazine are a rich resource for Turkish textbooks in terms of teaching values, but that they rarely address the theme of children.
