A research on the investigation of the relationships between servant leadership, social sustainability, organizational trust, and organizational identification

In this thesis, servant leadership, social sustainability, organizational trust and organizational identification concepts and their relationships with each other are investigated. The main purpose of this study is to examine the mediating roles of organizational trust and organizational identification with regards to servant leadership's effect on social sustainability. At the same time, another aim of the study is to investigate whether there is a difference in servant leadership, social sustainability, organizational trust and organizational identification in terms of demographic characteristics of employees. The scope of this research is Bezmialem Vakif University in Istanbul. The survey method was chosen as the data collection method and a questionnaire was completed by 730 people working in the academic and administrative units of Bezmialem Vakif University. In accordance with the data obtained, positive and meaningful relationships were found between servant leadership, social sustainability, organizational trust and organizational identification. In addition, with regards to servant leadership's effect on social sustainability, organizational trust and organizatonal identification were found to have partial mediating roles. According to another result, it was found that servant leadership and organizastional trust with their dimensions partially, social sustainability with dimensions mostly and organisational identification completely differentiate among most of the employees based on their demographic characteristics. The originality of this study is derived from the fact that the relationship between servant leadership and social sustainability was examined.
