Abstract (EN)
Works in Old Turkish literature that focus on the reign of Yavuz Sultan Selim and significant events during his era are termed "Selimnâme." Generally covering the period from Selim's princehood to his demise, these works are particularly important for containing information not found elsewhere. Hoca Sadettin Efendi's "Selimnâme" is one such work shedding light on the era and offering original insights. By amalgamating anecdotes he heard from his father, Hasan Can, with the section detailing Selim's era in "Tacü't-Tevarih's" fourth volume, he provides information about the Sultan not present in other sources. Both the anecdotes and the information within "Tacü't-Tevarih" reveal that Selim was not merely an ambitious Sultan but also possessed qualities of charisma and spiritual leadership. This thesis examines the section of Hoca Sadettin Efendi's "Selimnâme" and "Tacü't-Tevarih" detailing Selim's era and attempts to analyze Yavuz Sultan Selim's Alperen characteristics within the framework of Alpism-Alperenlik criteria.
